Several commentaters here have not done this and have been charged the rip off $34 price even though they no longer host the domain.
- Transfer the domain to another registrar.
- Once complete cancel the domain service from Yahoo (do not forget this otherwise they will hit your credit card).

I just found your post here. I am going through the process of transferring my domain from yahoo to another web host. I have a few questions about this if you don’t mind helping me with. #1 How long does it take for a domain registar transfer to process? #2 Yahoo finally gave me the information I needed to transfer my domain and I sent that information to my new web host just yesterday. Monday April 13 is when Yahoo is going to charge my card with the regularly monthly fee of about $13…I don’t want yahoo to charge me for this $13 fee again for another month that I will not even utilize. But my new webhost tells me to wait until the transfer is finished? Well what if that happens beyond tomorrow when Yahoo will charge my credit card for the monthly fee? I know it doesn’t seem like much ($13) but I just don’t want to give them anymore money…does yahoo give a 30 grace period when you cancel before they will finally take over your domain where you cannot get it back as a result of canceling service with them? What should I do?

I emailed Yahoo Help when they attempted to get me to renew the account (for $35) when my domain is registered for quite a few more years at another registrar, and this is what they blatantly admitted:
